Grilled Dessert Pizza

Rachel and I needed a treat tonight.  I started searching the web for some homemade pizza ideas and stumbled upon this treat.  I knew I had to make it so, not only did we have homemade (and DELICIOUS) pizza (I’ll blog it later), but we also had grilled dessert pizza!  You can probably tell from the picture, but this was a treat that we won’t soon forget.  I hope you take a chance to try it.  Let me know what you think of it when you do in the comments!  Here’s how to do it:

Ingredients: (Serves 4 – adapted from

  • 1/2 recipe pizza dough (I used 70% whole wheat flour with no problems)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • chocolate syrup

  1. Make dough and let rest for 10 minutes
  2. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl
  3. Split dough into 4 pieces and roll out into 1/4 inch thick rounds
  4. Grill on high heat in your grill (I used a cast iron grilling pan directly on the grill) for 2-3 minutes on each side
  5. Spread butter on each side and then sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mix (shaking off excess)
  6. Place 1 scoop of ice cream on one half and then fold the other 1/2 crust over, pressing down to shape properly
  7. Drizzle chocolate syrup (or Raspberry –that’s what I’m going to do next time– sauce or some other kind of yummy treat)

I hope you enjoy them!
